The Company also has approvals for ATEX, UL & CSA intrinsically safe instruments and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
PED Conformity
Pressure equipment placed on the market in the European Union, including the United Kingdom, must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23EC 29/5/97). Under these regulations, pressure equipment and assemblies above a specified pressure/volume must be safe and meet safety requirement covering design, manufacture and testing. To qualify they must satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures and carry the CE marking and other information.
The Directive is NOT optional and the penalties for failing to comply are severe.
Most of our range of probes for CEION®, ER and LPR can be categorized as sensors within the definition given in Guideline 1/25* and do not require CE marking. Only some probes that have a permanently integral pressure retaining housing may require CE marking. 2" access fittings and heavy Duty Covers (AC Series) and 1" packings (RC series) fall into Category II. Accessories for these systems such as quills, plugs and coupon holders do not qualify for CE marking but, as they may be supplied as part of an assembly, are assessed to the same standard.
Cormon is approved to self-certify products under Module H of the directive.
